Diabetis Typ 1
When blood sugar levels become a threat

“I constantly have to go to the bathroom.” “I tend to be thirstier now – compared to earlier in my life.” “My weight has suddenly dropped significantly.”

This or a similar experience is what people report with regard to their sudden diabetes I complaint.

In the case of diabetes, the pancreas produces insufficient insulin, a hormone that allows body cells to take in glucose. In this genetically based diabetes I disorder, which is mainly found in children and youth, the insulin-producing cells have been partially or fully destroyed. This almost always occurs following an infectious illness that triggers an autoimmune reaction against the insulin-building cells.

If left untreated, the later consequences can become quite serious. The disease can turn into arteriosclerosis, blindness, kidney damage, diabetic polyneuropathy or even may go so far as to require amputation of the feet.

What is the Vedic medicine point of view on type I diabetes?

Type 1 diabetes from an Ayurvedic perspective

According to the Maharishi Ayurveda approach, type I diabetes starts with the loss of natural balance.

Metabolic residues develop continuously due to improper lifestyle. In the case of type I diabetes, toxins (in Ayurveda called “Ama”) disrupt the body’s defense mechanisms. Over the years, especially when poorly managed, the improper dismantled glucose will attack the tissues of many organs.

In Ayurveda every patient is different and so each person’s type I diabetes complaint varies. The Ayurvedic approach at our Centre is holistic.

An integrated approach

Increasingly, patients are finding that conventional therapies alone are not enough.

They recognize that healing must take place on all levels. In the case of type I diabetes, for example, an emphasis on elimination of toxins as well as balancing of metabolism can be recommended. It is important to bring all natural regulatory principles back into harmony. Nutritional recommendations and helpful exercises, as well as specific herbal mixtures tailored according to your needs, support a health-conscious lifestyle. In this way, your natural self-healing abilities can support the reduction and prevention of the complications arising from type I diabetes.
