Diabetes Typ 2 When sugar floods the body
“My physician was the only one who noticed the increased blood sugar.” “I don’t notice any symptoms of high blood sugar.”
This or a similar experience to this is what type 2 diabetic patients report of their insidious disease.
In the so-called adult-onset diabetes the pancreas produces insufficient insulin, the hormone that allows the body cells to absorb glucose. Type 2 diabetes develops due to an unhealthy lifestyle. In a condition called “insulin resistance” the body cells don’t work properly and they resist insulin absorption. The physiology tries to balance this by producing increased levels of insulin until the hormone-producing cells are exhausted.
If left untreated, this can cause arteriosclerosis, blindness, kidney damage, diabetic polyneuropathy with difficult-to-heal wounds and even amputation of the feet.
What is the Vedic medicine point of view on type 2 diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes from an Ayurvedic perspective
According to Maharishi Ayurveda type 2 diabetes starts with the loss of natural balance.
Metabolic residues develop continuously due to improper lifestyle. In the case of type 2 diabetes, toxins (in Ayurveda called “Ama”) accumulate in all body cells. By means of Ayurvedic detoxification measures, the insulin resistance of the cells can be reduced and by doing so, can take away the fertile ground that gives rise to type 2 diabetes.
In Ayurveda every patient is different and each type 2 diabetes complaint varies. The Ayurvedic approach at our Centre is holistic.
What can Ayurveda do for you?
In Vedic medicine, diabetes typ 2 is addressed by combining various treatments into a multi-faceted approach adapted to your individual situation, as determined in a comprehensive diagnosis by one of our physicians.
An integrated approach
Increasingly, patients are finding that conventional therapies alone are not enough.
They recognize that healing must take place on all levels. In the case of type 2 diabetes, for example, an emphasis on elimination of toxins as well as balancing of metabolism can be recommended. It is important to bring all natural regulatory principles back into harmony. Nutritional recommendations, helpful exercises as well as specific herbal mixtures – tailored according to your needs – support a health-conscious lifestyle. In this way your natural self-healing abilities can stimulate the production of insulin and decrease the long-term consequences of type 2 diabetes.
