Chronic rhinitis When the nasal mucosa causes problems
“I have scabs in my nose all the time,” “My nose always feels dry,” “Actually, my nose is always running.”
This or something similar is how people with chronic rhinitis experience their disease.
The inflammation of the nasal mucosa can take very different forms. It can be too dry and form irritating bark, or too moist, so that the nose constantly runs. The nasal mucosa can begin to proliferate and form polyps that make breathing through the nose difficult. Or it may regress, leaving it defenseless against bacterial colonization. Even the sense of smell can be lost.
So this is not something that sufferers should take lightly.
How does Vedic medicine view chronic rhinitis?
Chronic rhinitis from the Ayurvedic point of view
According to the Maharishi Ayurveda approach, chronic rhinitis starts with the loss of natural balance.
Metabolic residues develop continuously due to improper lifestyle. In the case of chronic rhinitis, toxins (in Ayurveda called “Ama”) accumulate in the upper respiratory tract and especially the nose. Each rhinitis patient knows that that the symptoms fluctuate and the cause is often unclear.
In Ayurveda every patient is different and so each person’s rhinitis complaint varies. The Ayurvedic approach at our Centre is holistic.
