Cataract When vision becomes blurred
“I see as if through a veil”, “I used to be able to see much more clearly”, “At night, oncoming traffic blinds me when I’m driving.”
This is how people with cataracts experience their vision.
The deceptive thing about it is that vision deteriorates very gradually over years; only at an advanced stage is this consciously noticed. The cause is the deterioration of a repair enzyme in the eye, so that more and more defective protein bodies in the eye lens clump together and cloud the vision. At the same time, the lens swells, which worsens the refraction of light.
And it doesn’t matter whether the triggers are aging processes, radiation damage, injuries, or diabetes, in which the sugar concentration in the aqueous humor increases.
How does Vedic Medicine view cataracts?
Cataract from an Ayurvedic point of view
According to the Maharishi Ayurveda approach, cataract starts with the loss of natural balance.
Metabolic residues and toxins, called “ama” in Ayurveda, are constantly produced – due to our way of life – which, in the case of cataracts, are usually deposited in the lens of the eye over a period of years. A process that can also be reversed with the right methods, without cutting or surgery.
But according to Ayurveda, no two patients are alike, and so every case of cataract is a little different. The Ayurvedic approach in our clinic is based on holism.
What can Ayurveda do for you?
In Vedic medicine, cataract is addressed by combining various treatments into a multi-faceted approach adapted to your individual situation, as determined in a comprehensive diagnosis by one of our physicians.
An integrated approach
Increasingly, patients are finding that conventional therapies alone are not enough.
They realize that the path to recovery must take place at all levels. The focus is on the elimination of toxins in the entire body and especially within the eye. It is important to bring the natural regulatory principles back into a necessary balance. Nutritional recommendations, helpful exercises, as well as special herbal mixtures – all put together especially for you – help with a more conscious lifestyle. So that your natural self-healing powers can break down the deposits in the lens again.
