Arteriosclerosis
A dangerous bottleneck

“Will I get a heart attack or stroke at some point?” “Does my brain slowly but surely break down?” “What is the outlook for my overall health?”

This or a similar experience is what those affected with arteriosclerosis report.

In the case of arteriosclerosis, the so-called hardening of the arteries is caused by inflamed cells, blood fat, blood clots, calcium and other substances that are deposited on the vessel walls. Due to the narrowed diameter, the blood flows more slowly, which can lead to thrombosis — causing a blood clot that clogs a vessel. The dreaded complication is that healthy cells die due to lack of oxygen, resulting in pulmonary embolism or stroke.

A person with arteriosclerosis almost never notices this gradual process subjectively at first.

What is the Vedic medicine point of view on arteriosclerosis?

Arteriosclerosis from the Ayurvedic point of view

According to the Maharishi Ayurveda approach, the cause of arteriosclerosis is due to the loss of natural balance.

Metabolic residues develop continuously due to improper lifestyle. In the case of arteriosclerosis, toxins (in Ayurveda called “Ama”) are deposited on vessel walls. Typically, hardening of the arteries comes along with other lifestyle-related diseases, such as weight gain, adult onset diabetes or high blood pressure. Stress also has an important role in the development of the process.

In Ayurveda every patient is different and so each person’s arteriosclerosis complaint varies. The Ayurvedic approach at our Centre is holistic.

What can Ayurveda do for you?

In Vedic medicine, arteriosclerosis is addressed by combining various treatments into a multi-faceted approach adapted to your individual situation, as determined in a comprehensive diagnosis by one of our physicians.

An integrated approach

Increasingly, patients are finding that conventional therapies alone are not enough.

They recognize that healing must take place on all levels. In the case of arteriosclerosis, for example, an emphasis on elimination of toxins as well as balancing of the nervous system can be recommended. It is important to bring all natural regulatory principles back into harmony. Nutritional recommendations and helpful exercises, as well as specific herbal mixtures tailored according to your needs, support a health-conscious lifestyle. In this way, your natural self-healing abilities can gradually remove arteriosclerosis.
